Hosted by: Kingdom Of Morocco, The Ministry Of Agriculture And Fisheries
12-13 April 2017, Meknes, Morocco
The new strategy of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Kingdom of Morocco (MAPM) through the Green Morocco Plan (PMV) aims to develop the full territorial agricultural potentials by adopting value chain approach. The implementation of this strategic vision relies on new skills and new powerful and innovative platforms, such as information and communication networks. Thus, the MAPM, through the Directorate of Education, Training and Research (DEFR), has requested the support from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for the establishment of a Virtual Network of Support Consulting, research and communication to accompany the implementation of the PMV.
The ARDNA virtual platform offers a user-friendly space for quick exchange and collaborative work opportunities between researchers, agricultural advisers and small producers and their organizations. The numerous institutions from the entire country have benefited from this network. They represent agricultural training and research institutions, agricultural chambers and inter-professional agricultural federations, as well as producers’ organizations (associations, cooperatives, Etc.), small farmers and all the central structures of the Department of Agriculture.
Transfer of the successful experience seems to be one of the most effective ways to solve the problems faced by the agricultural sector. South-South knowledge exchange can be part of the solution for the lack of information, capacity building for both scientists and practitioners, as well as facilitate scaling up of successful solutions.
The training will provide an opportunity for experts in agriculture development from Algeria, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Sudan, Tunisia, Turkey and Uzbekistan to improve their capacities and get acquainted with the proven successful solution, ARDNA platform, representing Virtual Extension and Research Communication Network and aimed to improve information and knowledge exchange among the agricultural practitioners. ARDNA was awarded the Best Innovation Prize during the 2014 SIAM (Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
The training will also facilitate establishing a broader systematic platform for cross-regional South-South knowledge exchange and transfers responsive to the national development priorities in the respective countries. The countries’ can further consider partnership initiatives for leveraging the potential of knowledge exchange platforms to improve the agricultural sector and increase the opportunity for jobs creation in agriculture so as to maximize countries’ benefit from the SSTC-ADFS Partnership Initiative.
