Show all

Since 2006, when it restored its independence, Montenegro has been experiencing transformation to new forms of cooperation as an independent country and full-fledged member of the international community. Montenegro’s priorities and strategic preferences towards South-South (which is referred to as “East-East” in the region of Europe and CIS) are positive, as well as the country’s level of preparedness to pursue such priorities and preferences is an important step towards unleashing the potential of South-South and Triangular Cooperation on the road to BAPA+40.

Therefore, a participatory stocktaking exercise and an initial policy dialogue on South-South cooperation in Montenegro have been conducted. The stocktaking report identifies relevant South-South (East-East) Cooperation frameworks, objectives, conditions, patterns, successful practices and challenges at the level of national coordination authority, individual line ministries, relevant civil society and private sector institutions, as well as UN agencies, funds and programmes active in Montenegro and other triangular cooperation players, as well as analyzes shared and individual strengths and challenges of various players vis-à-vis effective promotion of South-South (East-East) Cooperation and identifying possible synergies.
