During the stock-taking consultation on SSC in Tunisia. Mr. Habib Hammami, Central Director at the Directorate Centrale of Animation, highlighted that the Tunisian Center for Development of Exportation through it is expertise and knowledge have been able to provide training course and also promote the export sector in Burkina Faso and Niger. He indicated that the center contributed in strengthening value chains within the agricultural sector, especially in partnership with the Islamic Development Bank “Reverse Linkage” methodology and many other activities through South-South Cooperation in close coordination with the Tunisian Agency for Technical Cooperation-TATC.

The Ministry of High Education and Scientific Research also played a prominent role in promoting South-South cooperation in the Maghreb region and African countries. During the SSC stock-taking consultation, Prof. Salim Choura, Director General of International Cooperation at the ministry, briefly stated that the ministry has adopted a strategy of cooperation with Africa focusing on two objectives:

  1. Open the way for Tunisia to become a destination for students and researchers from Africa; and
  2. Disseminate Tunisian experience to Africa through highly qualified experts and professional academic scientists in Tunisia.

Within the framework of SSC, the Ministry Ministry of High Education and Scientific Research established two faculties of medicine in the Republic of Djibouti and Republic of Chad.
